Configuration for Cisco Unified SIP Proxy devices can be carried out through the Web Application - Administration tool. The details of each device to be monitored can be specified together with the appropriate CLI and SNMP access details. To add a device for monitoring use the following procedure.
From the MS Windows Start menu, open and then log in to the Administration tool of the Web Application using an administrator level user.
Prognosis → Prognosis Administration
In the server panel, click on the Monitoring Server that is to be configured.
This will open the Home page for this server.
From the Home page under the UC & Infrastructure Configuration section click the Add System Button.
On the Add New Unified Communication Monitoring page go to the 'Network Devices' section. Select Cisco Device from the drop-down list and then click the Add button.
This will open the Add Cisco Device page.
Add the following details for the device that is to be monitored:
(Mandatory) This is a user-defined name given to the device. This name is used to identify the device in the various data Displays. The display name must only use: A-z, 0-9, ., - or _. Do not use -, _ or . at the start or end.
(Mandatory) Enter the IP address which the Monitoring Server can use to contact the device.
(Optional) This field can be completed with a user-defined customer name. It is used for grouping purposes and for Role Based Security, it does not affect the actual device name. If this field is completed, the details will be visible in the various Displays and will group like customer names together. The Customer name must only use: A-z, 0-9, space, !, ', /, &, - or _.
(Optional) This field can be completed with a user-defined site (location) name, e.g. 'London'. It is used for grouping purposes only and does not affect the actual device name. If this field is completed, the details will be visible in the various Displays and will group like site names together. Site name must only use: A-z, 0-9, space, - or _.
From the drop-down list box, select the device type. Select Cisco Unified Sip Proxy.
CLI User Credentials
CLI User Credentials are used to collect most of the information from the Cisco Unified SIP Proxy.
Details from the following fields will be used to connect to the Unified SIP Proxy device.
The user name to connect with the device. The user name must only use: A-z, 0-9, - or _.
The applicable password associated with the user name.
Port number used to communicate with the device, default 22.
SNMP Connection Details
SNMP Connection details are used to collect Call statistics. SNMP may be disabled on the Cisco Unified SIP Proxy device, to enable SNMP please see Cisco Unified SIP Proxy Device Configuration.
If required, select/enter details of the SNMP connection that is to be used to connect to the Unified SIP Proxy device.
Do not use SNMP
Select this option if an SNMP connection is not required, i.e. Call metrics will not be collected.
Use SNMP Version 2c
Select this radio button if the SNMP v2c protocol is to be used.
When SNMP v2c has been selected, enter the Community String that will be used for SNMP access. No default is assumed.
Databases and Thresholds
Normally, once the configuration is complete, a number of Databases and Thresholds need to be started. The "Start standard databases and thresholds' setting, which is activated by default, will automatically carry this out after the configuration has been added. Should it not be required to start the Databases and Threshold, this setting can be disabled by unchecking the adjacent checkbox.
When completed click the Add button to save the changes, or click the Cancel button to cancel the current activity and return to the previous screen without saving any changes.
