Storage Central Display

This display is available for the following platforms: LINUX NONSTOP UNIX WINDOWS

Storage data is provided through two different Displays, with each one based on the Prognosis Server platform.

MS Windows

The Storage Central Display for Windows is used to monitor available disk space. It uses the NtDiskLogical (NTLGDISK) record to obtain free space data for the logical disks on the monitored node. A logical disk is a partition on a hard or fixed disk drive.

This Display can be accessed from the Windows Server Overview Display by clicking on the Storage link in the 'Server Navigation' window.

The Display shows space data for all partitions with the bar graph at the top showing the percentage of free space available, the pie-chart at the bottom showing the free space available in MB, while the table provides detailed information for each drive.

From the 'All Partitions - Details' window, a drill-down on items in the Free Space MB column will open Display listing the individual files that are both increasing and decreasing in size. From the Free Space% column, the drill-down will open another Display showing fragmented file details.

Links are available to further Displays for more detailed information.

UNIX/Linux

The Storage Central Display for UNIX is used to monitor available disk space. It uses the UnixFileSystems (UXFILSYS) record to obtain space data for the monitored local and network file systems.

This Display can be accessed from the UNIX Server Overview Display by clicking on the Storage link in the 'Server Navigation' window.

The two tables in the top section of the Display show detailed space usage statistics for both Local Files and Network Files, while the two bar charts at the bottom of the Display show up to 5 Local file systems with the least and most available space.

The File Space Central and Disk Performance Central links are available to view more detailed information. In addition, two reports are available, 'This Month' and 'Today' which provide a graphical representation of file system space used for the selected period.

HPE NonStop

The NonStop Storage Central Display provides a central point to monitor Disk space usage for a selected node. The two summary fields at the top of the Display show the total free space available on the node and the smallest amount of free space available on a particular volume. The three bar graphs show the amount of free space available on the 5 fullest disks, the growth in megabytes for the 3 disks with the lowest growth levels and the growth in megabytes for the 3 disks with the highest growth levels.

This Display can be accessed from the NonStop Server Overview Display by clicking on the Storage link in the 'Server Navigation' window.

Disk Space Details by Volume Free Space

The table in the lower half of the Display provides Disk space data by for each volume.

Volume

The volume name

Size

Volumes usable capacity in megabytes.

Used MB

Amount of space used on the volume in megabytes. This provides a raw value for how full the volume is and includes temporary file space.

Free MB

Amount of space free on the volume in megabytes.

Used %

Percentage of space on the volume that is used.

Full Date

Estimated date of when the disk will become full.

Files

The total number of files on the volume.

Files Open

The number of files that are currently open for write on disk.

Extent Warn

The number of files that are open for writing where the currently allocated extents are greater than 90% full and will be unable to get another extent since the largest free extent on the disk is too small.

Frags

The number of free space fragments on the volume. A high count (>350) indicates that a disk compression (DCOM) should be done.

SMF Files

The number of logical files on this volume.

SMF Pool

The SMF Pool Name that this volume belongs to.

Links are provided at the top of the table that will open further Displays showing more details disk storage data.
