A separate additional server installation, known as a Management Server, is required if more than one Monitoring Server is included in the deployment. The Management Server is used to combine the collected data for the Web Application and/or Windows Client.
An example deployment is shown below.
After installing the Monitoring Server component on to the required machines and then installing the Management Server component onto a separate machine, the NETWORK Configuration on the Management Server will need to be updated with a MANAGED-NODES statement for each Monitoring Server. This statement allows the Management Server to 'see' each Monitoring Server.
Using the Web Application
From a web browser open the login screen using the following URL, where <machine_name> is the hostname or IP address of the Management Server.
Complete the login credentials and check that the 'Login to' box has 'Administration' selected.
Click the Login button.
In the second panel from the left, the 'Servers panel', ensure that the Management Server is shown and is highlighted.
In the main display area of the screen, scroll down to the 'Configurations' section and click on the NETWORK item.
On the 'Update Static Configuration NETWORK' page add a MANAGED-NODES statement for each Monitoring Server (this can use the server name or IP address).
When finished click the Start button, wait a few moments and once running correctly the NETWORK item will show with a green indicator.
In the 'Servers panel' check that each Monitoring Server is now shown. If not, try refreshing the browser or recheck the configuration steps on the Management Server.
Using the Windows Client
From the Windows Start menu, open the Windows Client
Go to the Nodes Navigator and locate the Management Server.
Expand the Configuration folder of the Management Server.
Right click on NETWORK Configuration item and select 'Properties' from the shortcut menu.
In the 'Properties' dialog box add a MANAGED-NODES statement for each Monitoring Server (this can use the server name or IP address).
When finished, restart the NETWORK Configuration.
Wait a few moments and then in the Node Navigator expand the Entire Network folder and check that each Monitoring Server is now shown. If not recheck the configuration steps on the Management Server.
