Adding Key Displays

While the home page setting provides quick access to a single dashboard through the Home button, shortcuts can also be setup to access many other frequently used dashboards. These shortcuts are known as 'Key Displays' and, when set up, can be accessed from the second Navigation Panel of the 'View Systems' window.

Key Displays

Keys Displays are set up from the Navigation page of the Administration tool through the 'Key Displays' panel.

The Add Display button will open the 'Add Shortcut Key to Display' page. Here a user-defined 'Shortcut Label' can be given to the Display, this is the name that will appear in the Navigation panel and should be easily recognizable. Next, the URL of the required Key Display is added, or in many cases just the document name may be sufficient, together with any applicable 'prompt' fields. See the 'Prompts' section below for details.

To add a URL, open the View Systems window, navigate to the required dashboard and then copy the URL. When copying the URL, it is recommended that the prefix 'https://<server-address>/Prognosis/Dashboard/' be omitted so that if the web server address is changed at a later stage, the home page link will continue to function (i.e. add everything after 'Dashboard/').

The Web Browser will add an '&_suid=<number>' field to the URL of each Display, this field can also be omitted when adding a URL.

Example URL:

https://127.0.0.1/Prognosis/#Dashboard/Alerts%20Central%20Main?defaultNode=current&_suid=138144277536006510917974856087

Content required for Key Displays field

Alerts%20Central%20Main?defaultNode=current

Prompts

In many cases 'Prompt' values will be required for deployed Displays. Missing 'Prompt' values will result in an icon being shown in the affected fields when a Display is opened in the Web Application. For simple Displays, this issue may be overcome by specifying the prompt values in the URL of the Display. To do this, in the URL after the Display name, add a question mark (?) followed by the prompt name, an equal sign (=) and then the prompt value. Multiple prompts are separated with an ampersand (&), i.e.

https://<web_server>/Prognosis/Dashboard/<dashboard_name>?<prompt_name>=<prompt_value>&<prompt_name>=<prompt_value>&...

For example;

https://machine-64/Prognosis/Dashboard/System%20Overview?DefaultNode=Current&Vendor=All

In this example the 'DefaultNode' and 'Vendor' prompts have been included together with the required values.

Note that URL encoded values need to be used in the URL, for example:

%5c

=

\

%20

=

blank space

%23

=

#

(see http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/ref_urlencode.asp for more information)

To determine the missing prompts, hover the mouse over the icon and the resultant message will show the missing prompt name. There may be multiple prompts missing, so even after one prompt has been added, the warning message may still appear. In this case hover the mouse over the message again to see what the next missing prompt is.

For more complex deployments please contact IR Technical Support for assistance.

When complete click the Add button.

The Edit button can be used to change the shortcut label or URL given to any Display that is highlighted in the Key Displays box.

The Test button can be used to check any Display that is highlighted in the Key Displays box.

Deployed Documents

The Key Displays function can also be used when Sending Documents to the Web Server from the Windows Client. After this procedure has been completed, these documents can be added to the 'Key Displays' panel in order to have easy access to them. To add these Displays it is normally only necessary to add the document name, e.g. 'Alerts Central Main'.
