What's New in this Version

This page outlines the new features and updates that have been included in this latest release of Prognosis. Further details can be found by clicking on the adjacent 'View' link.

Help Documentation update

Prognosis offline Help Guides are no longer produced, this refers to all the PDF documents (previously released with the Installer) and Prognosis Windows Client local help files. All help content is now available as an online service only.

Local help for IPTMReporter, Outage Adjuster and PWSR are still available for this release.

Data Obfuscation for SQL Database Collections

Obfuscating data written to SQL Databases using Database Collections has been introduced. This feature utilizes the PII tagging information in Prognosis Records to obfuscate personal data before writing to external databases. This feature is specifically designed for Reporting Advanced deployments, however, it is enabled using the standard system Prognosis Database Collection (for ODBC types only) mechanism.

Prognosis High Availability

In Prognosis 11.6, we have enhanced our High Availablity feature to easily allow the ability to switch between a configured Active and Passive Prognosis HA Pair to support planned upgrades or outages while maintaining continuous monitoring of critical systems.

Prognosis for Infrastructure

Changes to Knowledge folder names in Prognosis Client

In Prognosis 11.6, the following folder names under the Knowledge folder in the Prognosis Client have been changed to help avoid reaching the maximum path limit on Windows:

  • 'NonStop\Trouble Shooting Online' is now 'NonStop\Trouble Shooting'
  • 'Unix and Linux\Trouble Shooting Online' is now 'Unix and Linux\Trouble Shooting'
  • 'Windows\Trouble Shooting Online' is now 'Windows\Trouble Shooting'

There are no dependencies within Prognosis on the location of these files.

If any customizations have introduced dependencies on these path names, changes may be necessary for these customizations to work with Prognosis 11.6.

Prognosis for Distributed Systems (Linux, UNIX and Windows)

Support for IIS 8.0 and above

Monitoring of Microsoft Internet Information Services was supported in prior versions of Prognosis up to IIS version 7.5 (shipped with Windows Server 2008 R2). The monitoring of later versions of IIS (8.0 and above) was previously not supported in Prognosis. Prognosis 11.6 now supports the monitoring of all IIS versions distributed with currently supported Windows operating systems up to Windows Server 2019.

Prognosis for HPE NonStop

Support for the latest operating system versions

Support has been verified for the following operating system:

  • Integrity NonStop J06.22
  • Integrity NonStop X L18.08

Prognosis for Payments

Merchant Mapping

In Prognosis 11.6, transaction monitoring now includes a new Merchant Mapping feature, for the use of merchant acquirers. This feature enables the population of a new merchant name field with a value derived from the values of other fields in the transaction.

Given the lack of a merchant name field in an ISO 8583 transaction, this functionality allows merchant acquirers to obtain a merchant level view to be used with Dynamic Thresholds and Merchant Portal, as well as displays and thresholds.

This capability is enabled for all transaction monitoring sources, including BASE24, BASE24-eps, Connex, IST/switch, and Postilion. For custom transaction sources, assistance may be required from IR Consulting to enable this new functionality in any custom records.

This feature can also be used to populate other fields in the transaction records (e.g., user fields) with descriptions or group names, based on the value of other fields present in the transaction.

Merchant Portal

Prognosis 11.6 includes a new feature to allow merchant acquirers to provide a real-time transaction performance portal to their top merchant customers. This feature leverages the new merchant mapping feature combined with Prognosis’ built-in role-based security capabilities to allow secure access to the merchant’s transactions via the Prognosis Web Application.

This capability is supported for all transaction monitoring sources, including BASE24, BASE24-eps, Connex, IST/switch, and Postilion. For custom transaction sources, assistance may be required from IR Consulting to enable this new functionality in any custom records.

This is a licensable feature and introduces a set of new security-enabled transaction records to be used in portal dashboards: MerchantTransactionSummary, MerchantTransactionDetail, and MerchantPortalCustomer.

Encryption of BASE24-eps Real-Time Feed traffic

In Prognosis 11.6, TLS encrypted traffic can now be handled on the BASE24-eps Real-Time Feed into Prognosis. Currently, encryption is only supported where the destination Prognosis server is a Windows server.

An X.509 certificate and corresponding private key need to be provided, to be used to encrypt the connection. Both the certificate and private key must be provided in PEM format.

When encryption is enabled, only connections using TLS 1.2 or higher encryption can be accepted for that transaction source. Currently, TLS 1.2 is also the maximum protocol version accepted.

Performance Improvements for Transaction dashboards in Web Application

In Prognosis 11.6, improvements have been made to the performance of Web Application dashboards based on Transaction Summary records.

When there were large numbers of Transaction summary views (windows) active, memory usage inside key Prognosis components on the Web Application server could grow large and performance could deteriorate. A large number of views could be caused by dashboards with a large number of windows, dashboards containing a live canvas, having many different dashboards active, or many different user roles with dashboards active.

Memory usage on the Web Application server has been greatly reduced in Prognosis 11.6, as compared to Prognosis 11.5 running the same dashboards.

Note: it is still highly recommended that when creating custom Transaction Summary dashboards, that Best Practice for Adding Key Fields is followed.

Support for ACI XPNET 3.4

Support has been verified for monitoring of ACI XPNET 3.4 in Prognosis 11.6. No changes were required, so this support extends back to Prognosis 11.5.

Note: this section is referring to monitoring via the traditional XPNET interface, not XPNET Real-Time Statistics. Monitoring via Real-Time Statistics (RTS) is not yet available in Prognosis 11.6. Please contact your local IR team for more information on monitoring using RTS.

Support for ACI MTS 6.0 for Linux

Support has been verified for the monitoring of ACI MTS 6.0 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux in Prognosis 11.6. MTS 6 is the first MTS version made available on Linux, and unlike prior MTS versions is not available on AIX.

Changes were required to Prognosis in order to support this version of MTS. With the release of 11.6, the following MTS versions are supported:

  • ACI MTS 4.x – 5.x (on AIX)
  • ACI MTS 6.x (on Red Hat Enterprise Linux)

Changes to Knowledge folder names in Prognosis Client

In Prognosis 11.6, the following folder names under the Knowledge folder in the Prognosis Client have been changed to help avoid reaching the maximum path limit on Windows:

  • 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24\ATM Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24\Transactions\ATM'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24\POS Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24\Transactions\POS'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24-eps\ATM Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24-eps\Transactions\ATM'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24-eps\POS Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for BASE24-eps\Transactions\POS'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for Connex\ATM Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for Connex\Transactions\ATM'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for Connex\POS Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for Connex\Transactions\POS'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for IST\ATM Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for IST\Transactions\ATM'
  • 'Payments\Prognosis for IST\POS Transaction Manager' is now 'Payments\Prognosis for IST\Transactions\POS'

There are no dependencies within Prognosis on the location of these files.

If any customizations have introduced dependencies on these path names, changes may be necessary for these customizations to work with Prognosis 11.6.

Additional details on peripherals for CE video endpoints

Prognosis 11.6 has been enhanced to show hardware information about peripherals device for CE video endpoints via a new record CiscoTelePresenceTCEPeripheralStatus (CTPTCEPS). This will help the administrator to proactively detect peripheral connection issues before any important meeting needing to be held with the associated video endpoints.

This is supported for all video endpoints running CE firmware to provide information on peripherals such as touch panel and camera regarding whether they are physically connected.

Having said that some video endpoints running TC firmware would provide information when the device is physically connected, and no information will be given when it is not.

Note: Cisco TelePresence threshold has been updated to include detection on the lost connection of peripherals with CE endpoints. Users should stop and restart their threshold to pick up the new condition.
